The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus may be subject to a series of glitches that have left a number of users infuriated. But a still-unannounced feature is likely to grab more headlines and make Apple's
new smartphones even more desirable than they already are.
Earlier this week it emerged that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus could have water resistant properties, after videos surfaced online showing the phones working fine after being submerged in water.Today more evidence has emerged that the handsets are built to withstand water damage, after iFixit reported that Apple has applied waterproofing sealant around internal connectors and has fitted a gasket around the device to prevent minor water damage.
The rationale seems to be to protect the things that get affected most when exposed to water. Namely internal electronics that are the first things to 'go' when a phone is dropped in water.
Unlike other smartphone-makers which brag about waterproofing their handsets' exterior connectors, Apple has made no mention of such a feature in its promotional material.
This is presumably because the device is not fully certified as waterproof.
