With everyone and his dog about to become the owner of a shiny iPhone 6S, you might be worried your handset could get confused by the sheer number of people saying “Hey Siri” in public places. But not to worry, Apple has thought of that.

The 6S features an 'always-on' version of Siri that responds as soon as you say “Hey Siri”. You don’t need to open the Siri program, or press any buttons on your handset. You just speak and it’ll listen.

According to MacRumors, the really clever thing about it, though, is that it'll recognise your individual voice so it can differentiate from the babble of other voices around you.

That way, no one else can take advantage of your iPhone’s voice-commands feature to set alarms, call people, or otherwise cause havoc with your phone.

People testing the iOS 9.1 beta report that Siri trains to recognise your voice when you initially set up voice commands.

It’s thought this is similar to the “OK Google” feature on the Moto X, which makes you say a phrase three times so it can learn your voice.

Despite this, our Moto X has been set off a few times by voices on the TV. Worryingly, usually Michael Mcintyre’s.

The new 'always-on' Siri comes as standard on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, as does the new 3D Touch interface.

Both handsets are available to pre-order now, and will ship on September 25th.
